More than $1100 in additional funds to Eastern KY Flood Relief

The Unitarian Universalist Society of Amherst invited Hands Across the Hills member Judi Fonsh to speak to their service on Sunday, September 18. Judi spoke about the devastating floods in the area of eastern Kentucky that is HATH's partner in our bridging efforts the last five years. The result was a Dedicated Offering of over $1100 which was just recently sent directly to Cowan Community Action Group in Whitesbury KY, the epicenter of the summer floods of 2022.

UU representative Carolyn Holstein wrote to Judi Fonsh: "Thank you very much for speaking at the UU Society of Amherst and helping us to give aid to the area. It will take a long, long time to recover, but your Hands Across the Hills has helped so much to make us aware of the need. Thank you again."

Cowan Community Action Group provides many services in the Whitesburg area, and has been instrumental in local flood relief with meals and distribution of goods. Several HATH members, including Valerie Horn and Nell Fields, are integrally involved in managing CCAG.

Hands Across the Hills is grateful to the UU Society of Amherst for this generous offering.
